Introduction of a “clean and safe” seal
Within the scope of the COVID-19 pandemic, Turismo de Portugal created the “Clean & Safe” seal to distinguish companies in the sector that comply with the minimum hygiene and careful cleaning requirements for the prevention and control of this virus or other possible infections, in order to to allow tourism enterprises, tourist entertainment companies and travel agencies to have a tool that certifies them as safe establishments, guaranteeing the tourist’s confidence in the destination.
These measures require the creation of an internal protocol, in conjunction with the recommendations of the Directorate-General for Health, which ensures the necessary hygiene to avoid risks of contagion and ensure safe procedures for the operation of tourist activities.
The requirements to be met differ depending on whether they are tourism enterprises (identical for Local Accommodation), tourist entertainment companies or travel agencies, and their adjustment for restaurants and for commerce (stores), which will be implemented by the Directorate-General for Economic Activities through the eportugal.gov.pt platform.
Here are some more details about the seal:
– The rules or requirements of the seal are of voluntary adhesion by the companies;
– This process is based on filling in an online form and automatically receiving an email with proof of submission and all stamps that can be used in physical or digital communication;
– The seal focuses mainly on the issue of cleaning and hygiene of the space, as well as on communication and information to the consumer of the measures taken by companies in this area;
– The objectives with this seal are 1. To alert companies to the urgent need to comply with some basic hygiene and safety requirements in the fight against COVID19 and to be prepared for it from the first day of opening and 2. To constitute a communication tool to increase confidence in our destination and in its service providers.
ALGARVE
We also inform you that the “Clean & Safe” seal – which aims to be as simple and comprehensive as possible – will be complemented by a “MANUAL OF GOOD PRACTICES – ALGARVE CLEAN & SAFE”, which is being created by Turismo do Algarve together with the sector associations, gathering specific guidelines by industry (Accommodation, Catering and the like, Marina and Recreational Ports, Beach Concessions, Golf, Water Parks, Tourist Entertainment Companies, Campsites and Motorhomes, among others).
This manual will be sent, in a first phase, to the Municipalities, Health Authorities, Forces and Security Services and other Licensing / Inspection Entities, so that the standards that these organizations come to define have the contributions of the sector as their knowledge base.
