The GNR Salvaterra de Magos detained on 8th December 2016, a man aged 47 years, for stealing pine trees, in the locality of Salvaterra de Magos – Magna.
Alerted by the fact that a man was knocking down pine cones, the the GNR visited the location and discovered the man was picking up pine cones from a property near the Magus Dam, which he did not own. Subsequently about 1120 kilograms of pine cones were found in his possession and seized.
The suspect, who has a record for this type of crime was notified to appear in court.

This is more common at this time of year, the pine cones being packaged and sold as fuel for fires.
