Judicial Police have arrest four pharmacists for fraud against the National Health Service in the greater Porto area.
The Judicial Police, through the Northern Board, in investigations of fraud practices to the National Health Service (NHS) undertaken by DIAP Porto have arrested four pharmacists strongly indicted for the crimes of aggravated fraud, corruption, document forgery (aggravated) and computer falsehood.
According to the investigation the criminal activity consisted of a fraudulent scheme of fictitious sale of medicines by issuing bogus prescriptions, so that the contribution rate paid by the State reverted to suspects.
In the course of searches conducted, all in the metropolitan area of Porto, evidence gathered is that the scam amounted to approximately Euro one million in the three pharmacies against the state.
