SIS official Carvalhão Gil, arrested in May in Rome for alleged espionage and violation of state secrecy and other crimes, is still under house arrest after the Lisbon Court of Appeal today dismissed the appeal.
According to a note from the TRL, sent to Lusa agency, “the measure of coercion of obligation of permanence in housing was maintained, and the appeal was dismissed.”
The SIS agent was arrested in Rome on 21 May caught in the act of sellingl NATO information to a Russian spy holder with a diplomatic passport as part of an investigation involving the Central Criminal Investigation and Action Department (DCIAP) ), The Judicial Police, which deployed investigators to Italy, and EUROJUST.
