Brief Company History

Destination Algarve is a Portuguese-registered company that has been operating since 2004. We are a Member of the Association of International Property Professionals (www.aipp.org.uk) and as a member of this organisation, we have voluntarily committed ourselves to industry regulation and a code of conduct. Destination Algarve is also a Member of the following professional organisations:

In 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, Destination Algarve was presented with the ‘Empresa Aplauso’ award from Millennium bank in recognition of its ‘entrepreneurial vision and active contribution to the economy’.

Brief Personal Background

The Directors of the company Sean Whittamore and Carol Spires have over 30 years’ experience in customer-focused businesses in the UK & Europe, and a combined total of 25 years’ experience in property-related industries in Portugal.

We provide services for both owners of property in the Western Algarve and holiday makers who wish to rent accommodation in the area. Our owners and rental guests’ origins are worldwide, from New Zealand to Japan, USA to Peru as well as many European countries. We provide them with a quality service, and many of our rental guests return year after year.

From the outset we have always provided safety and security measures over and above those required by local or national regulations. For instance all our properties have smoke alarms, and a carbon monoxide detector where appropriate. We have a schedule of maintenance activity which ensures that not only fire safety equipment is regularly maintained but any health & safety concerns are attended to promptly, making a safe and comfortable environment for owners and guest alike. With our many years’ experience and local knowledge we are able advise owners on the most appropriate security measures for their property, with regular reviews.

On the rental bookings side, we have many security measures in place to identify ‘spam’ and other unwanted emails and we are very successful at avoiding fraudulent enquiries
