On 2nd November at 17.45 hrs the Security Division of the Public Transport, Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police, arrested two persons aged 28 and 37 years of age for pickpocketing in the area of Rossio.
Police on patrol duty, were alerted to the movements of pickpockets who have been targeting tourists who visit the Rossio area. They move around taking advantage of the high concentration of tourists. Each pickpocket has a defined role within the group. In this instance they stole from a foreign tourist a wallet containing 350 Euros and various items..
The police intercepted the pair and recovered € 350 in cash and; and a wallet with various documents; The detainees have criminal records for crimes of a similar nature, were present in the Central Instance – Section of Criminal Investigation of Lisbon, with an application to be held in custody pending trial.
