Situation Report Madeira 31st May to 1 June

There were no new cases yesterday. There have been no new cases for 26 days. Three more people have recovered. There are now 14 active cases and 76 recoveries.

There are 329 people under active monitoring and 140 in self-monitoring. So far, there have been 1,543 suspected cases, 1,453 of which came back negative.

As for Covid-19 testing, 14,321 samples from 13,055 people have been analysed at Laboratório de Patologia Clínica do SESARAM (Madeira Health Service lab).

The SRS 24 helpline (Regional Health Service – 800 24 24 20) received 23 calls from Saturday to Sunday to Saturday, bringing the total number of calls to 8,091. So far, the Covid-19 mental health helpline (219 212 399 – available every
day from 9h00 to 21h00) that was set up to provide emotional and mental support to Madeira residents has received 1073 calls, with 122 people being monitored.

Hotels requisitioned for quarantine

Three hotels have been requisitioned by the Madeira Regional Government to ensure there are facilities where passengers, landing at airports in Funchal and Porto Santo, can spend the 14-day (compulsory if needed) quarantine period. Its
aim is also to reduce the risk of Covid-19 contagion and spreading in Madeira. Dom Pedro Ocean Beach Hotel (in Machico), Hotel Vila Galé Santa Cruz (in Santa Cruz) and Aldeamento Turístico Village Cabo Girão have been requisitioned from
today, as part of the renewal of the Situation of Calamity until the end of June.

Nazaré Health Centre to reopen today

Nazaré Health Centre (Centro de Saúde da Nazaré) will reopen
today. Priority for appointments will be given to patients with chronic diseases. Appointments will be from Monday to Friday (9h00-13h00 and 14h00-18h00). Appointments can be booked by calling the following number (969376991 – a doctor
will answer the call).

  • Be on time, arriving 10 minutes before the appointment
  • Avoid bringing other people with you, unless in special circumstances and allowed to
  • It is important to answer (with accuracy and without omitting facts) all epidemiological questions
  • Use face mask
  • Disinfect hands while entering and leaving the health centre
  • Maintain the recommended distancing
  • Temperature will be measured
